Seniors' Funding Programs

Martin Lavergne At one point in our lives we, or someone we love, experience some degree of disability. A disability is anything that limits our daily activities. The degree of severity can vary from a broken finger to complete loss of mobility, from short-term wound care to chronic health problems.

According to Statistics Canada, the amount of dollars that Canadians spend out of pocket on medical care and health services, due to some form of disability, has nearly doubled in the last 8 years.

The cost of health care supplies and mobility devices can become quite expensive to the average Canadian and most of us are not aware of the funding available to assist in covering the costs, many times the entire cost.

The Assistive Devices Program (ADP) is one of the largest programs of its type and is available to eligible residents of Ontario. Devices covered by the program are intended to give people increased independence and control over their lives. In addition, there is also a multitude of other funding programs such as:

• The Arthritis Society
• Essential Health and Social Services
• Knights of Columbus
• Ontario Disability Support Program
• Department of Veterans Affairs
• Hemophilia Association
• Moose Lodge
• Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation - RRAP
• Blue Cross
• First Nations
• Ontario March of Dimes
• Ontario Works
• The Easter Seal Society
• Kiwanis Club
• Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada
• Corporate and Private Insurance Companies

Many of the different programs listed, as well as other programs, can be combined to cover up to 100% of the total cost of mobility devices. To find out if you qualify for any of the programs available, please contact one of our sales associates at Canada Care Medical and we will be more that happy to assist you in determining which funding is appropriate for you and your needs.
